What is permanent makeup?

It is putting the right color in the right place so you can look better naturally.  Micropigmentation, also known as Permanent Cosmetics, is the art and science of implanting natural pigments of color into the layer of skin known as the dermis.  This technique has been medically developed and specifically designed for a safe, permanent application. The pigments used have been specially formulated for cosmetic use. Not to be compared with traditional tattooing, in which permanent skin dyes and inks are placed into the skin. Because the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the color through a thin veil of skin.  When a procedure is completed, the color will appear darker than the final result. This is because the color is in BOTH the epidermis and dermis.  The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process lightening the overall effect. Properly applied by an experienced technician, permanent makeup will be more natural and realistic in appearance as compared to conventional makeup.

Is permanent makeup safe?

Yes, sterile, single use disposable items are used for each individual client. Nothing is ever re-used. Each client can review their tray set up and inspect their needles prior to their procedure. Cross contamination can cause infection or illness,  Aesthetic Ink takes this seriously. Pigments are all made from approved compounds, and most are mixed specifically for permanent cosmetic use only. Strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines are followed in accordance with the CDC (Center For Disease Control) and the Florida Health Department.

Does it hurt?

Various topical anesthetics are utilized before and throughout the treatment to minimize any discomfort, ensuring your experience is a comfortable and pleasant one. We have never had a client unable to finish a procedure because it was too painful.

What is Paramedical Micro-pigmentation?

The art of using color re-pigmentation for medically corrective purposes to camouflage and conceal color imperfections due to trauma and disease such as:

–  camouflage scars

What if I’m allergic to PMU Pigments?

Although allergic reactions to pigments have been reported, it is considered extremely rare. There have been so few reactions to the pigments that some doctors are suggesting that the patch test be eliminated. It is possible to develop an allergy to anything at any time. There have been very few reactions to pigments, and only rarely in the case of red pigments. Physicians recommend Permanent Cosmetic procedures for those Individuals with skin sensitivities or allergies to conventional makeup. If you are concerned, an allergy patch test is highly recommended to safeguard against allergic reactions to pigments and topical anesthetics. Final determination is the responsibility of the client. Client may waive testing if desired.

Are Permanent Cosmetics really permanent?

It’s inevitable that all tattoos fade with time and exposure to the elements. Every person’s skin is different regarding pigment retention. Factors which effect longevity of permanent cosmetics are: color selection, age, thickness of skin, scarring of skin, use of skin care products, laser treatments, medication, swimming, and sun exposure. You will need periodic refreshing of color, depending on how light the shade of implanted pigment, as well as factors mentioned above. Most people will choose to have their permanent makeup color boosted within one to five years of the original procedure.

What if I use Latisse, Retin A, Botox, Fillers, plan on having plastic surgery, or have been on Chemotherapy/Radiation?

Latisse – it is very important to stop using Latisse at least 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after having a permanent eyeliner procedure.

Retin A or Retinols – discontinue use at least one week prior to treatment and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after the treatment.

Botox – should be performed either 2 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure or 2 weeks after your procedure.

Fillers – should be done 6 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure or done 6 weeks after the procedure.

Plastic Surgery  – you can choose to have your permanent makeup applied prior to surgery to eliminate the need to wear cosmetics and to help you look your best during the healing process. It does not interfere with the surgery process. You may also wait until after surgery and have your permanent cosmetics applied as soon as your physician feels you are ready.

Chemotherapy/Radiation – Areola clients must be off Chemotherapy/Radiation treatment for at least 4 to 6 months. All surgical patients must wait 6 months from the date of their last surgical procedure. On some occasions a physicians release may be required.

Have you ever had a cold sore or fever blister on the lips

If so, you will need to speak to your medical provider to get a prescription for an antiviral medication (Zovirax or Valtrex)  to help prevent a breakout. This is not a guarantee that you will not experience a breakout, but it will reduce the chances. If you cannot obtain the medication, you should at least take LYSINE for a week prior to and following the procedure. Lysine is available over the counter at many drug and nutrition stores.
